Draft for Matthew's review. Not legal advice; have a lawyer read it before launch. Items in [brackets] need filling in.
Privacy
Effective [date]. Covers squawktalk.app. The Squawk Talk trainer will have its own notice when it opens.
The short version
This site doesn't use cookies, ads or analytics. The only personal information I get is what you type into a form. I use it to answer you and to tell you about Squawk Talk. I don't sell it or share it for anyone else's marketing.
What's collected, and by whom
- Forms. The waitlist and the schools and shops form run on Tally (tally.so). What you enter, such as your name, email, role and answers, goes to Tally and then to me. Each link also carries a short tag saying where you came from, like "facebook-page" or "sotw-02", and the plan you picked. Tally's own privacy policy covers how they store it.
- The weekly puzzle. It runs entirely in your browser. Your readings and score aren't sent anywhere unless you copy and share them yourself.
- The source tag. If you arrive from a tagged link, the tag is kept in your browser for that tab (session storage) so it reaches the form. It's cleared when you close the tab.
- Fonts. The page loads its typefaces from Google Fonts, which sees your IP address when you visit. [Or: fonts are served from this site, and Google isn't contacted.]
- Hosting. The web host, [host name], keeps standard server logs (IP address, browser, pages requested) for security and to keep the site running.
- Email. If you write to squawktalkadm@gmail.com, your message is kept in that mailbox (Google Workspace / Gmail).
How I use it
- To answer your questions and set up trials or pilots you ask for
- To email you about early access and Squawk Talk news. Every email has a way to stop them.
- To see which posts and puzzles bring people in, using the source tag
Schools and students
Class pilots don't need student accounts, names or emails. If that changes, the school is told what would be collected and asked first. [Confirm against the current app build before relying on this.]
This site isn't directed at children under 13, and I don't knowingly collect their information.
Your choices
Email squawktalkadm@gmail.com to see, correct or delete what I have about you, or to come off the list. I'll handle it within [30] days.
Changes
If this notice changes, the new version goes on this page with a new date.
